Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Coordinator

Position Type: Part-time (6 hours per week)

Location: Blue Mountains, NSW (Hybrid)

Reports to: Coordinator

Hourly Rate: $42–45 per hour + superannuation (depending on experience)

About Farm It Forward

Farm It Forward is an environmental youth charity that strengthens the health of people, communities and the planet through Care Through Food.

We transform underused land into productive food spaces, support young people's wellbeing through nature-based programs, connect communities with fresh, locally grown food and are developing innovative approaches to regenerative local food systems through research, education and community partnerships.

As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, we're seeking an experienced Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Coordinator to help communicate our story, strengthen our partnerships and support the long-term sustainability of our organisation.

Position Purpose

The Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for increasing Farm It Forward's visibility, strengthening community engagement and supporting fundraising through strategic storytelling and communications.

Working closely with the Coordinator and team, this role will capture and communicate the impact of our work while developing systems that grow our supporter base, attract funding and strengthen Farm It Forward's public profile.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement Farm It Forward's marketing and communications strategy.

  • Manage our social media platforms and maintain a regular posting schedule.

  • Create engaging content including photography, video, graphics and written stories.

  • Update the website with current news, events and opportunities.

  • Produce regular newsletters for supporters and partners.

  • Ensure consistency across Farm It Forward's branding and messaging.

Storytelling & Community Engagement

  • Capture stories from our youth programs, food growing activities and community events (with appropriate consent).

  • Highlight the impact of our work through compelling storytelling.

  • Develop promotional materials for events, workshops and seasonal campaigns.

  • Build relationships with local media and identify opportunities for positive publicity.

Fundraising & Supporter Development

  • Coordinate community fundraising campaigns.

  • Develop donor communications and stewardship materials.

  • Assist with philanthropic reporting and grant communications.

  • Help grow Farm It Forward's supporter network through digital engagement.

  • Support crowdfunding campaigns and fundraising events.

Organisational Development

  • Assist with the promotion of new initiatives, including the Care Through Food Platform and Grow, Cook, Share.

  • Contribute to annual reports, presentations and impact reporting.

  • Support volunteer recruitment and community engagement.

  • Develop communication systems that improve organisational sustainability.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in marketing, communications, fundraising or public relations.

  • Is an excellent writer and storyteller.

  • Has strong social media and digital marketing skills.

  • Enjoys photography and/or videography.

  • Is confident using Canva and content creation software.

  • Can work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Is highly organised, creative and proactive.

  • Shares Farm It Forward's commitment to community, sustainability and social justice.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be highly regarded:

  • Not-for-profit organisations

  • Community development

  • Youth services

  • Environmental organisations

  • Regenerative agriculture or local food systems

  • Fundraising and philanthropy

  • Website management (WordPress or similar)

  • Email marketing platforms

  • Graphic design

  • Media and public relations

Essential Requirements

  • Current Australian driver's licence.

  • Access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).

  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Australian working rights.

After six months, success in the role may include:

  • Maintaining a consistent and engaging social media presence.

  • Publishing regular newsletters and website updates.

  • Increased community engagement across digital platforms.

  • Successful promotion of Farm It Forward programs and events.

  • Growth in supporters, volunteers and community partnerships.

  • Increased fundraising through community campaigns and donor engagement.

  • High-quality communication materials supporting grants and partnerships.

Hours of Work

This position is 6 hours per week, with flexibility around when those hours are worked.

The successful applicant will be expected to attend occasional community events, workshops or fundraising activities outside normal working hours by mutual agreement.
